It’s National “Work Like a Dog” Day

Did you know that the phrase “Work Like a Dog” reportedly originated from the extremely hard work that farm dogs put in out of the sheer joy of the tasks and of course their loyalty to their owners? Today this “holiday” celebrates working dogs of all types, but also gives us a solid reason to thank not only the working dogs that touch our lives, but others in our community who consistently “work like a dog”! And of course, to give our patients the treatment they need so that they can spend more quality time with their pets and loved ones while enjoying #HealthyLiving.

Which Breeds are Best Role Models for the “Work Like a Dog” Day?

We found some fun facts about today’s working dogs in this blog by Animal Rescue Professionals. Our canine companions are so valuable to humans in so many occupations:

  • Sled Dogs
  • Police
  • Assistance Dogs
  • Herding
  • Military Dogs
  • Search and Rescue
  • Detection Dogs &
  • Therapy Dogs

In today’s world, there are so many people with anxiety and loneliness, but they may be unable to care for a pet themselves. Therapy dogs and their volunteer humans make a tremendous impact on improving people’s lives. If you are a mobile senior with a friendly and healthy dog, and are looking for a way to give back, it is fairly simple to have your pet registered as a Therapy Dog! Check out the Therapy Dogs International website to get started now! If you would like to contribute to working dogs in some other way, there are great organizations to help. Consider a donation or volunteering for Canine Cops or Assistance Dogs.

Is your dog your reason for #HealthyLiving?

When our teams are in clinics as opposed to at home with pets, they work hard to help our patients improve their healthy mobility. Our HA knee care protocol has helped many people in getting back to spending more active time with their pets. Whether it’s going for walks or playing frisbee, pets enjoy our mobility as much as we do! If you are interested in learning more, check out the Knee Care Protocol page.

Of course healthy metabolism certainly adds to our quality of life as well. We have many of our Diabetes and Metabolic Therapy patients really focusing on compliance with diet and exercise, as well as coming in for infusion treatments that have made a significant impact on their neuropathy, energy levels, sleep, hair growth, and more! Imagine going from no energy to wearing out your dog on that next walk!

However you choose to enjoy celebrating National “Work Like a Dog” Day, we are here to help. The professionals at Spruce Health Group know there are a lot of people out there working hard at their various #HealthyMetabolism, #HealthyMobility and #HealthyLiving goals.
